The Pronto  RU 940 / TSU2000

The European version of the Pronto 2000,is called the RU940.

It has an extra megabyte of memory. Otherwise the specification is exactly the same as the original Pronto.
The original Pronto RU890 has ample memory to fully replace up to ten remote controls as well as a house full of X10  devices.
If you have more than this you perhaps need to pay extra for the RU940. The rule for PC's, the more memory the better, does not necessarily apply to the Pronto.

Marantz or Philips?

Until recently Marantz and Philips were parts of the same empire, but now Marantz have broken away to pursue their own strategies which will
include emphasis on home theatre products. Marantz will continue to market their versions of the Pronto which are made in the same Belgian factory.

The Marantz 5000i is identical to the Pronto RU940 in terms of hardware and physical memory, but more memory is user-available on the 5000i.
Its colour is gold rather than silver. It comes with a Marantz two year guarantee rather than one, with a somewhat more flexible response to warranty claims.
It comes with a docking station and rechargeable battery, which the majority of Ptech customers choose, and it costs less at Ptech
than the RU940 and docking station together.
As yet there is not the same number of "Communities" for the Marantz but all Pronto configuration files can be used with it.
The ready loaded screens are really more extensive, imaginative and user friendly.
